Alex Massie is a Scottish freelance journalist and former Washington correspondent. Currently based in Edinburgh he now contributes to The Scotsman, amongst other papers, and, since January 2009 has written a blog published by the Spectator. In 2012 he was short-listed in the blog section for the Orwell Prize for political writing and, as of May 2013, he writes a fortnightly column for the Scottish edition of The Times. Many of his recent blog posts and writings concern the Scottish Independence Referendum. A supporter of the union, he was a panelist in one of the BBC’s referendum debates that took place in Greenock and was broadcast in January of this year.
